This half term we will be learning about transport.
PSED: This term we will be learning to build relationships and make friends. There will be lots of opportunities for children to build their play alongside and with other children, taking turns, sharing resources and sharing ideas. There will also be opportunities for the children to build their self confidence and adapt their behaviour to different social situations.
Physical development: Children will travel in different ways around the setting using bikes, obstacles, climbing equipment to build their gross motor skills. In addition to this Fine motor skills will include using small tools, cooking activities, gardening and mark making.
Communication, Language and Literacy: We will be learning to listen to stories, join in with songs and rhymes and share ideas about what they have learnt. We will be developing language skills including asking and answering questions and introducing some new words linked to our topic.
Reading: children will read with an adult each week and will bring reading books home to share with you. Please check reading journals for details. We will also share stories as a class.
We will read stories and sing rhymes as a class.
Writing: Children will practice recognising and writing their names. They will also be writing short sentences linked to our topic and literacy focus each week. There are lots of opportunities for the children write and mark make around the classroom.
Phonics: Phase 3 phonics will be taught daily. The children will practice recognising and saying sounds, writing the graphemes and reading and spelling words. The children will also practice reading and spelling high frequency words and tricky words. These will be sent home in a phonics pack for your child each week.
Creative learning Children will draw on first hand experiences, with opportunities to create pictures and to investigate colours, textures and smells and to make models linked to our learning and inspired by their interests.
Mathematical Development: We will be focusing on comparing amounts, more or less than 5 and will begin to look at time, focusing on different times of the day. Children will also investigated shapes, space and measure within the topic including making models, comparing sizes and weights especially in our cooking.
RE: As part of our RE learning we will be reading some stories from the bible and learning about celebrations.
Knowledge and Understanding of the world: Children will be using their senses to explore different environments and notice changes around school. We will be applying our learning to make models, solve problem and design objects.
Forest Friday we will be planting in the EYFS garden.
