W/C 11.1.21

In art this week the students will be completing an artist study on Henry Moore. For this task you should research the artist, find out what style of art he created, what materials he used and where his work is displayed. Recreate a piece of his work by either drawing or painting, or using playdough or anything similar to sculpt in his style.

For today's live reading lesson please watch the following video before the session.

This week we will be looking at poetry and the different language techniques included in this style of writing. These include the use of alliteration, similes, metaphors, personification and onomatopoeia.

  • Your task today is to write and edit a spine poem.
  • Your spine poem must follow the following sequence:

Adjective, adjective, noun, verb, adverb or adverb, verb, ending (can be simile, place, feeling etc.)

For example, Swollen, scarlet heart thumping aggressively like the proud leader of the percussion procession.

  • Use the following video for inspiration.

  • Attached are resources to help with the different writing techniques.

This week you will have the chance to recap the more complex variables module on espresso coding.

Today your writing task is to complete and edit a list poem.

  • Your list poem must start with the title ‘In my amazing body’ and use the language features (from Tuesday) to describe what happens in your body.

For example,

In my amazing body,

I have two hundred and six vital bones functioning simultaneously to keep me moving.

I have a thumping heart working tirelessly to circulate burgundy blood through my veins.

I have a rumbling stomach which roars as loud as a furious lion chasing its prey.

For Music this week use your personal log ins to access the Charanga portal. Explore the website where you will be able to access the modules we would have covered in class.

This half term the students are looking at the topic 'at school' under the 'Super Challenge Level' heading. This week we are on lesson 2, however lesson 1 can also be accessed if you have not already completed this.
