  • School Response to Coronavirus (COVID-19) Situation

    Mon 09 Mar 2020 SLT

    CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19)  School Response – 9.3.20

    Treeton C of E Primary Senior Leadership Team has reviewed the current situation regarding the risks posed by the Coronavirus (COVID-19) in school.

    With reference to the Government Action plan published on 3rd March 2020;

    ‘it has been agreed that at present personal hygiene is the most important way in which we can tackle COVID-19, especially washing hands more; and the catch it, bin it, kill it strategy for those with coughs and sneezes.’

    Current advice remains in place: No school should close in response to a suspected (or confirmed) COVID-19 case unless advised to do so by Public Health England.

    However the following situations have been discussed and taken into consideration:

    • Those pupils with lower immunity or a particular susceptibility to infection. These cases will be discussed on an individual basis with parents/carers and appropriate steps taken to minimise any risk.
    • It may be deemed necessary in the future to limit those events to which parents are invited, and avoid larger gatherings in the hall such as assemblies, services and celebration events. We will await further government or health authority advice before any decisions are made regarding this.
    • All teachers have been issued with latest guidance around educational visits, and have been advised to consider this carefully when looking at future events out of school, taking appropriate action as necessary.
    • All children are to be regularly reminded of the importance of good hygiene, the importance of regular hand washing and the ‘catch it, bin it, kill it’ rules.

    As more information becomes available the SLT will actively review this information and amend as necessary. Parents will be notified immediately of any changes to our current practice.
