Acorns (Nursery) Mrs Habershon

Welcome to Acorn Class 2024-25!

Our nursery class is jam packed full of exciting learning opportunities for our youngest children! Click the links below to find out what we are learning this term as well as some of ideas for how you can help your child with their learning at home!

We are looking forward to an amazing year in Acorn Class!

If you have any questions about the learning in Acorn Class or your child specifically, please speak to either Mrs Habershon or Miss Rooke.

Dream Reads

Each week the children will bring home a 'Dream Read' book. This is a book for you to enjoy sharing together at bedtime. In Acorn Class we change our Dream Read books every THURSDAY. Please ensure your child brings their book into school so they are able to swap it for another one!

Reading Books and Reading Diaries

The children will also bring home with a reading book and reading diary. The books we send home in Acorn Class are picture books with no words. Please encourage your child to ‘read’ their book by telling a story using the pictures. Try asking them questions about what is happening in the pictures to support them to do this. We encourage families to read at home at least three times a week. Please record every time you read at home in your child’s reading diary.  The children’s home reading is celebrated with stickers each week and reading rewards at the end of each half term. We will read with the children and change their reading book at school every week. Look out for a note in their reading diary that lets you know when your child’s reading day is and please make sure they have their book and reading diary in their book bag on that day.

If you have any questions about reading in Acorn Class, please speak to Mrs Habershon.
