Autumn Term Overview

 

Autumn - Incredible Me!

We have a very exciting first term planned. We will spend lots of time exploring our new classroom at first, getting to know each other and settling into the routines in Year 2.

Literacy

We will become writers and avid readers through our phonics programme, which will support our creativity to become fluent readers and writers.

For Literacy, we follow the RWI Phonics programme and Get Writing Scheme. Children will be assessed in the first week of term and grouped to match their ability levels. Our Get Writing scheme links to our Read Write Inc phonics scheme and builds upon their grammar and vocabulary to provide a rich English curriculum. 

 

Maths

In Maths, we will become mathematicians and build upon our previous mathematical understanding through practical and written methods.

Science 

As scientists, we will study those who have created a path to understanding more about the world around us and how their theories and inventions have changed the lives of others, how we see the world and how we can learn from their discoveries.

Computing

We shall become computer whizzes using our own personal login to Purple Mash and learn how to navigate around the program and understand the importance of logging out of devices.

Effective Searching

 

Art

In Art we will become artists and focus on drawing lines to define the background and foreground. We will learn drawing techniques of hatching, cross-hatching and shading to create depth of colour.
