Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
For attention of the whole school: Snow update
Due to the current and forecasted weather conditions we have made the difficult decision to close school today for the safety of all pupils, families and staff.
Staff will provide online learning information later this morning.
Stay safe and we will see you on Monday.
Many thanks

WORLD BOOK DAY 2021
This year to celebrate World Book Day on March 4th we will:
• Ask children to dress as their favourite book character or make a prop that is linked to their favourite character. Of course you can do both if you wish. We encourage children who are at home to take a picture and share it with their class teacher, and please do wear your World Book Day outfit to your live lessons or to school if you are in class.
• Have a World Book Day competition to design a poster that will motivate and inspire children to read. A winner from each year group will be chosen and they will each receive a prize. The closing date to receive entries is Monday 8th March.
• Encourage you all to write to your favourite author. Perhaps you could ask them any questions you may have or invite them to join us in school via zoom or Microsoft Teams in the Summer Term. It will be exciting to see just how many responses our school gets back.
• Just for fun! The teachers are taking part in 'The Masked Storyteller'. Each teacher will read a short extract from their favourite book, but they will be masked. The challenge is to guess which masked teacher is who! The answers will be revealed at the end of World Book Day.
Lastly, please note that World Book Day vouchers will be out to children on Monday 8th March. These are valid until Sunday 28th March.
School is closed today to all children and staff due to adverse weather conditions. Remote learning will continue as usual, with live lessons as scheduled. Class page have live lesson schedules, timetables and resources to support the learning. If you need any further advise contact your child's class teacher via Dojo.
We are celebrating BBC Children in Need in school by dressing in our brightest clothes! You can also make a donation to the charity by following this link to our Parentpay site. There you will find a dedicated page where you can make your payment.

RE: provision for children of Critical workers, Nursery, Reception, Y1 and Y6 children
We have been asked by the government to extend our provision beyond the critical workers and vulnerable children to include Nursery, Reception, Y1 and Y6 pupils. We are now in a position to provide you with a detailed plan, having carried out extensive risk assessments and consulted with parents. The plan below may be subject to change should government guidance change or due to staff absence due to COVID 19.
Reopening will be staggered over a 2 week period from the 2nd of June. We have grouped the children who have requested a place into ‘learning bubbles’ of up to 10 children. School will be open usual hours Monday to Thursday and on Friday until 1pm. Critical worker provision will remain Monday to Friday usual hours from the 1st of June.
More details and the letters which include this information can be found by clicking on the parent information tab and choosing the COVID 19 School Response option.
We will be continuing to assess the risks, test our systems and protocols and adapt the plan in line with the government guidance and in consultation with Diocese Academy Trust. We will notify you of any changes to the plans as and when they occur. Please be patient as we embed these arrangements as we work to ensure we provide the best care for all the pupils and our staff

Dear Parents
Firstly we would like to thank you for your prompt replies to the survey we sent out last week about the proposed reopening of schools to specific year groups. This has provided us with some indicative numbers. We are ever mindful that each family has their own unique circumstances which will inform their decision making around this, and recognize that for some families more information was needed for them to make these decisions.
As we suggested in the letter which accompanied the survey, we have used the survey information to put together a prospective plan for reopening which is flexible and follows the government advice. This letter contains some details of the proposed provision and information around the offer. Please be aware that this is subject to changes as guidance, advice and timings are likely to be regularly updated by the government. Hopefully this information will help parents to inform their thinking and decision making.
We now need you to advise us if you intend to send your child once partial opening begins. Please read the information within this letters carefully before completing the new survey indicating if you are likely to send your child once the partial reopening of school begins. You will need to complete a separate survey for each child. We will then model our response based on these numbers.
We are likely to phase children into school one year group at a time, over a 2 week timeframe to allow us to develop and test our protocols and to support systems for social distancing of adults at entry and exit points. We are likely to offer a full day with some slight adjustments to timings which allow for staggered starts and multiple drop offs. We will only be offering a morning nursery session. More detail and timings will follow once we have firmer numbers and guidelines to work to.
We also want to reassure parents who decide to continue with home learning that this will continue to be planned by the teachers and will be communicated via dojo and the website.
An overview of the proposed provision, including some of the measures we will be taking and our protocols are detailed on the attached sheet. As always we consider the health and well-being of our pupils as a priority and will be working to support this in all we do. Please read this carefully before reply to the survey using the link below:
In the meantime, the school is still open for children of critical workers only. We know some employers will be encouraging you to return to work, but we’re not in a position to extend places to other children until we receive further government guidance.
We will be in touch again once we have analysed your responses and have been able to confirm details of our plans to begin the opening of school safely.
With kindest regards

Dear Parents
We are sure you have seen or heard by now that the government is hoping for some year groups to return to school in June if it is safe at that time to do so. The year groups that we are being asked to plan for are our nursery children, Reception children, year one and year six children. This is in addition to the children of critical workers who have had access to the provision since lockdown.
The government has set out what schools need to consider in relation to social distancing, which include among other things having fewer pupils in school, staggered lunches and breaks, plus having staggered times for different groups to arrive and leave school. It includes too some advice about how we protect the most clinically vulnerable, and which groups of children and staff need to stay at home. Behind the scenes, we are busy working out how many staff will still be able to attend the setting (some are in this clinically vulnerable group), how many classrooms we need to manage groups of up to 15 and how many staff we need to teach the pupils.
We need to be very clear that social distancing is not possible in a school. We will be following the government guidance closely and will let you know nearer the time what measures we are putting in place once we reopen.
It is also worth noting that, once year groups return, it will not be ‘normal’ school. The guidance states that children will need to be grouped in smaller sets of no more than 15 and will not mix with other pupil groups. This means that it is not necessarily the case that your children will return to their usual teacher, their usual classroom or see all their friends.
To help us plan a possible reopening, we need an indication of how many of you are planning on sending your child back to school this summer if school reopens for your child. To this end, please complete this survey on our website: survey Monkey’: Link here: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/B78R5BQ
Please complete this as soon as possible so we can group children and organise staffing.
The government recognises that some of you will prefer to continue to keep your children at home, since you know your children and personal situation best - and therefore has confirmed that absence rates will not be tracked and fixed notice penalties not issued for non-attendance.
The government have advised that if we are not able to open for all of the 4 year groups listed above (due for example to staffing issues) we should prioritise opening for the youngest children first.
In the meantime, the school is still open only for children of critical workers. We know some employers will be encouraging you to return to work, but we’re not in a position to extend places to other children until we receive further government guidance.
We will be in touch soon once we have analysed your responses and have been able to draw up our plans to open school safely.
With kindest regards
