Competitive Sports Day 2021-22

Our competitive sports day takes place annually and it is always a huge success. This sports day is for years 1 to 6. The children are mixed up into 4 separate teams which are coloured. The team colours are: green, red, yellow and blue.

The children participate in four events which are: Shot put, Javelin, Standing Long Jump and the Sprint Race. The children participate against others within their year groups and points are awarded for the top 8 places.

The top 3 boys and girls in each year group will also receive a third, second and first medal in our special Sports Day assembly. Every child received a participation medal for competing and taking part in the sports day.

To celebrate other areas of sporting achievement, we also hand out 6 sporting achievement awards in our sports day celebration assembly. Class teachers nominate one child from each year group to receive one of the awards. These are:

• Most determined - A person who did not give up and kept going right until the end.

• Good attitude - A person who showed hard work, determination, teamwork and supported others. Overall a positive behaviour throughout the day

• Team player - Somebody who was cheering on their team mates, encouraging them, giving praise and helping others. Maybe somebody who helped another person in another team.

• Personal best - Somebody who might not have won but put in their personal best performance. This may have been their best effort which you have seen.
• Improved self-confidence - Somebody who might have been lacking in confidence but gave today a really good go.
• Encouraging others - Cheering their team on, helping other children at a station, looking after the younger children.

The 2021/22 Competitive Sports Day winning team was the BLUE TEAM!
