Home learning

Wednesday 5th November

Please see the attached documents for today's learning - a reading comprehension, a maths and writing activity.

Your writing task is to write a Bonfire night cinquain poem. All the instructions on how to create one are in the PowerPoint attached.

Today's reading comprehension is on Jazz. We will be exploring this music genre in further detail this half term. As usual choose your level of challenge. Answers are attached to the document.

Again today there will be learning delivered through Microsoft Teams. There will be a SPAG lesson at 11:00am and a Reading one at 1:00pm. Please could you login to Teams 10 minutes prior to each lesson. After each session, the learning materials will be uploaded onto DOJO.

Tuesday 3rd November

Today's learning includes a reading comprehension and a writing task which involves the up levelling of sentences. For the reading comprehension, decide your level of challenge. 1 star is mild, 2 is spicy and 3 is hot. Most children will be able to complete the hot reading challenge.

At 1:000pm today there will be a Maths lesson delivered through Microsoft Teams. The PowerPoint and resources will be uploaded on here after.

The link www.office.com will take you to Teams. Alternatively, you can use the link below.

Monday 2nd November

Good morning all,

I hope everyone has enjoyed a well-deserved break.

As children are self–isolating at home, today there will be a number of home learning tasks set for spelling, writing, maths and art.

For spelling, children are to learn the spelling of this week’s words and also look up the definition of any unfamiliar words.

Over the next few weeks, the children will be writing a non-chronological report on the local area and in preparing to do so; they will examine key features found in non-chronological reports. One of these key features is the use of bullet points.  The task is to watch the PowerPoint to gain a deeper understanding of this punctuation mark.

In art this half term, we will be exploring the work of landscape artist Thomas Gainsborough. Use the link below (and other sites if you wish) to research his life and work produced by Gainsborough. The task is to make notes on Gainsborough using bullet points – refer back again to the PowerPoint on bullet points if you need to. Once completed, please bring this piece of work into school on Thursday.

For maths, children will recap their understanding of square and cubed numbers. There is a short PowerPoint to explain each term with visual representation and a short activity to accompany this.

Please remember to read today ( ideally with an adult if this is possible) and spend a minimum of 15 minutes on Timestable Rockstars. We will be returning to our daily timestables tests when we return to school.

From Tuesday onwards until our return to school on Thursday 5th November, there will be other home learning tasks set, but I also aim to deliver some lessons online through Microsoft Teams. Further details about this will follow as soon as possible.

Have a great day
